Asking for your input: After-hours Psychiatry in the ER
Jackie Desrochers, coordinator of client & family relations at The Royal, would like your input.
A colleague approached her for feedback. Psychiatrists in the Ottawa area typically take turns covering on an on-call basis in hospital Emergency Rooms (ER) in the region after hours. This is apparently the case since the ER at The Royal was closed. My colleague belongs to a network of psychiatrists that are discussing the usefulness of this service and how important it is to clients and families. She gave her opinion from a staff perspective and the feedback that she gets but thought it would be important to get more information from clients and families themselves.
If you or anyone you know has an opinion (even better a lived experience about using, or not having a psychiatrist available after hours at ER), let her know how important this service has been to you.
